These photographs and videos are a record of self reflection. Through the presentation and abstraction of personal objects and public moments I process my complicated relationship with femininity, vulnerability and contact. I approach my work with a keen awareness of the power of the mechanical and biological eye. I explore the desire to look and be looked at, using the camera which simultaneously resists and reveals.
The series Ordering Systems was created within the Monroe County Public Library System of Rochester, New York. The photographs are carefully composed constructions that visually order space. With the use of light, composition, and repetition an unnoticed aura is unveiled. I am interested in these locations as commonplace public and institutional space; through the utilitarian surface the eye is drawn to subtle traces of personality, traces of human intervention, and traces of myself.
